October 7, 2022 – The commemoration ceremony of the victims of the Holocaust in Romania

In the current international context marked by changes, unknowns, and the evolution of extremist, antisemitic, and xenophobic discourses, remembering the tragic events of the Second World War, which marked Romania’s history, represents a natural responsibility of all of us. A commitment through which we contribute to consolidating a society characterized by solidarity and intercultural dialogue.

On Friday, October 7, 2022, in the context of the National Holocaust Remembrance Day (commemorated on October 9), the” Elie Wiesel” National Institute for the Study of the Holocaust in Romania organized the yearly commemoration ceremony at the Holocaust Memorial.

At the ceremony participated: the Minister of National Defense, representatives of the Romanian Parliament, of the Government, of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the ambassador of the State of Israel, the ambassador of Germany, representatives of the Diplomatic Corps, representatives of the Federation of Jewish Communities in Romania and the National Agency for Roma, groups of students with teachers.
