Imagini din trecut. Holocaustul în Botoșani
Images of the Past. The Holocaust in Botoșani

It started with a ban on walking the streets during certain hours and the inability to continue their studies; this was followed by forced labor, the separation of families, expulsion from the country for which they had fought, and deportations to Transnistria, where they were forced to survive disease, cold, and hunger, but above all the helplessness of watching their loved ones die.

These are a few “snapshots” that paint a picture of the past of the Jewish and Roma communities in Botoșani during the Holocaust. A distant past, but one that is part of the history of the communities to which we belong.
